Youtube Video - Basic Camera Shots for Film

I was looking at some basic shot types on youtube and i came across this video where they demonstrate camera angles in real time. I really enjoyed the video and it caught my attention. 

from now i am going to break the video down where i will explain in my knowledge what the shot type would be used and how to make the most of your shots. 

This shot is used basically to start off the scene and to give the viewer are idea of what and who you see is going to be in the video. For example the girl is at are reserved area where it looks like she is waiting for someone. 

Over the shoulder is used in conversations where the camera is behind the two subjects where the camera is also set up behind the girl like the camera shot above. 

This gives the viewer a chance to see what they are talking about and it shows who the subject is talking too. 

 

In this camera shot it is very close to the subject and it is ideal to capture the reaction of the subject. The closer you are to the subject the more personal the part of the scene would be. 

This angle is very strange to me only because i rarely see this as are shot type to use in are video. But in saying that i wouldn't mind using this as are finish shot or getting the background in and show where the object is. 

Medium two shot shows the subjects are in the shot. This gives are chance for the viewer to see who are talking to each other and show their connection together whether it is about the two breaking up as are couple or brother and sister catching up.  

Full shot shows the subject in the frame. And is are good transaction from the medium shot.

This angle is often used as are way of showing that the subject is weak because the high angle makes her small in the shot. the choice of this shot is used in interviewers where the girl wants to be get the job.

This choice of angle is quite often used in movies where this shot shows the subject in the video powerful only because the camera is low and the subject is bigger in the shot.

Today was are introduction from glen and we were looking at different shot types that we will be learning in the next four weeks. Also getting our first script which is are scene from breaking bad.

This camera was really interesting because i have never witnessed are high tech camera before and to actually learn about the camera and see how everything operates.

Introduction

So for class today we were presented with a powerpoint and i was able to learn more about what works with that type of shot and to easily understand the way using a camera to the best of its ability.

I was impressed with the camera that we witnessed today are Sony FS7. It was a good chance to physically see this type of camera and all its functions.

Here are some great examples of the camera movements and how to get the best results .

What Worked?

I really like the information from the powerpoint and i am interested in getting to learn more things and getting better at what i want to do in the future.

What Didn't Work?

When glen showed us the SF7 i was pretty much confused at all the words he was saying for example the Attachments visually and the buttons of the camera.

What Next? 

I am excited for the next class this coming Wednesday.
